Responsibilities

  • Organize outreach activities and regularly collaborate with community organizations and grassroots campaigns
  • Represent MP at events and meetings as well as schedule Member’s attendance at meetings as required
  • Monitor events in constituency and advise Member on issues in the constituency
  • Support and respond to constituent casework, including intake
  • Monitor email inbox, triage incoming emails, and help support outgoing email correspondence
  • Assist with developing local mailouts, e-newsletters, social media, and other written communications
  • MP Website design, upkeep, content development and maintenance
  • Database management
  • Volunteer recruitment, development, and management
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English and strong research skills
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse communities
  • Knowledge of community organizations, government departments and the labour movement
  • Knowledge of Winnipeg Centre and riding priorities
  • Knowledge of Indigenous rights, gender equity, and the right to housing and other human rights issues
  • Familiarity with social media (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.) and the development of accessible content
  • Sound political judgment
  • Knowledge and experience with programs like InDesign, Nation Builder, Microsoft Office, and Excel
  • Experience with database/case management software, an asset
  • Additional Languages, an asset (ex. French/Arabic/Tagalog)

Annual salary

$56,250

(Salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
