The federal Liberal government is asking Canadian's to weigh in on what priorities they have for the upcoming federal budget. They're asking all of us to submit our feedback on their online survey.
In their own words:
"This is your opportunity to share your vision and ideas for how we can stimulate job creation, strengthen and grow the middle class, and build a better economy for everyone. What is most important to you? What challenges do you see ahead? How can the federal government position our country for a robust economic recovery that benefits all Canadians?"
This is a major opportunity for supporters of Motion 46 and a Guaranteed Livable Basic Income to tell the government why we need a basic income program in Canada, and demonstrate the power of our movement! If all of us take ten minutes to complete the survey and state our desire for a basic income program in Canada, the government won't be able to ignore the clear message we're sending.
Please fill out the government's pre-budget consultation survey today. Consider highlighting the facts around why we need basic income and how it will benefit all of us.
The survey will ask you about many different social and economic priorities. There are two questions that relate directly to basic income, and provide space for you to write:
6) If you were designing the federal budget, what would you like to see in it to help create jobs and grow Canada’s economy?
and
7) When we are able to safely re-open the economy and COVID-19 is under control, what is one idea you have for how the federal government can help you or your community?
When answering these questions, consider highlighting the facts around why we need basic income and how it will benefit all of us. You may also want to tell a personal story about how GLBI would help you and your family.
