The one-time top-up to the Canada Housing Benefit is now available to help lower-income renters offset the cost of rent.
You may be eligible if:
- You filed a 2021 tax return
- You are at least 15 years of age on Dec 1, 2022
- You have an adjusted family net income of $20,000 (individuals) or $35,000 (families)
- In 2022 you:
- were a resident of Canada for tax purposes
- lived at a principal residence located in Canada
- paid rent for your own principal residence
- paid at least 30% of your 2021 adjusted family net income on rent
