MP Gazan Statement on Disability Pride Month and the Anniversary of the Accessibility Canada Act

On July 11th, 2026, MP Leah Gazan, NDP Critic for Persons with Disabilities made the following statement:

Disability Pride Month is marked during July as a time to celebrate the disability community, their unique identities, vibrant cultures, and invaluable contributions to society.
July 11th also marks the 7th anniversary of the Accessible Canada Act, which was adopted in 2019 to realize a barrier-free Canada by 2040. While this year, we have seen setbacks, violations and loopholes in the Accessible Canada Act, I call on all leaders and legislators to dismantle disability injustice and ensure our communities are ones where everyone can live in dignity and respect.
Whether Disability Pride looks like the celebration of your joy or a time for political action, I stand with the disability community in solidarity, and I extend my warmest wishes for a wonderful Disability Pride Month.
