Join Sean McQuillan and Leah Gazan, MP for Winnipeg Centre to discuss a universal basic income.
The CERB has been the closest thing to a universal basic income tried at scale in Canada. Experiments with mincome, though, have been happening in Canada since a study in Manitoba in the 1970's. Proponents of a mincome come from all over the political spectrum including Martin Luther King Jr. and Milton Friedman.
MP Leah Gazan has put forward a motion (M-46 go check it out!) to transition the CERB into a universal basic income. In this town hall, Sean and Leah will be discussing what a UBI would look like in Canada and the pros/cons of this approach.
