Working for our community, with our community
I cannot imagine being a Member of Parliament without the support of our community. Every time I rise to speak or cast a vote in the House of Commons, I do so with the safety and wellbeing of constituents and the vibrancy of Winnipeg Centre in mind. Together we have accomplished so much, and together we’ll face the challenges ahead.
Every day in Winnipeg Centre we see the need for major policy changes. Last summer, wildfires devastated Manitoba, displacing thousands of evacuees and filling our skies with smoke. Nearly half of young Canadians are spending more than 50% of their income on rent, well above the 30% benchmark considered affordable. Recent polling shows that Winnipegers agree the city is a great place to live, but shared frustrations about crime and violence in their communities. To move things in a better direction, we need strong people-led movements.
I want to hear your voice
Throughout my time as your MP, I’ve connected with constituents at local events, at your doorstep, at town halls and open houses, and chatted with those who reached out to my office or replied to mailer cards like this one. Your feedback has always guided my work. I may be the voice for Winnipeg Centre in Parliament, but it’s your thoughts, ideas, and vision – and those of our neighbours – that gives my voice power.
I want to hear from you. What issues are most important to you, and how can we work together to uplift our communities and people across Canada? This is your chance to be heard. I hope you will share your thoughts.
