Responsibilities
- Providing content and graphic design for social media, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms
- Write, collect, and prepare MP newsletters, direct mail, op-ed pieces, media material, news releases, speeches, articles, and correspondence
- Prepare materials for Question Period, speaking notes, and critic recommendations for use in the House of Commons, and Committees
- Maintain database and distribute mailings
- Assist with Member’s constituency-related correspondence
- Assist with research, media liaison, and event coordination
- Schedule Member’s appointments and activities as well as conduct travel arrangements
- Open, log, and distribute mail, faxes, emails and respond as is appropriate
- General administrative and reception duties, including answering phones
- Coordinate in conjunction with other staff the Members’ outreach to constituents
- Manage and prepare content for social media and other creative communications
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of the New Democratic Party, the labour movement, government departments, community organizations
- Knowledge of Winnipeg Centre and riding priorities, including Guaranteed Livable Basic Income, Climate Justice, and Housing
- Familiarity with social media (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.)
- Sound political judgment
- Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience
- Administrative experience in busy political office
- Familiarity with desktop publishing software, graphic layout skills, an asset (InDesign)
- Knowledge of databases, an asset (NationBuilder/ForeAction)
- Bilingualism, an asset
Annual salary
$59,300
(Salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
